Hundetraining: Wie lange pro Tag ist sinnvoll?
The surprising answer: much shorter than you think. Dogs learn in short, concentrated bursts — anything beyond that is pointless (and frustrating for both of you).
The Rule of Thumb: 3 x 5 Minutes
Three short sessions a day are infinitely better than an hour in one go. After 5-10 minutes, concentration drops rapidly — anything after that is practice in making mistakes.
Why shorter is better
- Learning happens in the breaks: The brain consolidates new information during sleep and rest periods.
- Motivation stays high: Stop when things are going best — then the next session starts with anticipation.
- Mistakes decrease: A tired dog makes mistakes, mistakes cause frustration, frustration makes you tired — you save yourself that spiral.
Everyday life is the real training
Waiting in front of the bowl, eye contact at the traffic light, staying calm when the doorbell rings — integrated mini-exercises count more than the formal session. This way, you train 20 times a day incidentally.
And when will you see results?
With daily short training: first changes often after days, stable signals after weeks. The 7-day plan is built precisely on this — and the progress tracker in the Toolkit makes the development visible.
